Putting Standards into Action: Multilingual and Semantic Enrichment in Web Site Personalisation and Localisation

Industry

This presentation showcases FREME, a framework for multilingual and semantic enrichment of digital content, in two industry domains. FREME deploys several industry and community standards from the area of data and language processing, to ease the creation and adaptation of enrichment applications. Via FREME, the companies Vistatec (for translation) and Wripl (for Web site personalisation and Analytics) acquire new business opportunities. In the case of Wripl, FREME helps to attract new customers in the tourism and library sectors by easily adapting enrichment workflows with custom data sets. On the basis of the enriched content, Wripl is able to analyse user engagement and overlay this with FREME based text analysis. The result is an empowered content strategy by understanding of user  interests and the ability to support semantically enabled content creation. In the case of Visatec, FREME allows to combine semantic enrichment and localisation workflows in their new Deep Content service. Accessed via the Vistatec Ocelot tool, this encompasses the processing of linked data, language technologies and XML content formats like XLIFF. The enrichment leads to new business opportunities: Vistatec is currently working with a number of beta customers to integrate Deep Content into their global digital content production processes.
